Privacy and confidentiality are both very important topics when it comes to today's world especially when everything is moving more towards online stores and almost everything we do involves something that gets done online. Privacy and confidentiality both play a very important role when comes to new media, since new media involves a lot of things are done online, which makes it more prone to breaches and access to our personal information and a whole lot of stuff that we don't want to provide to the public but we trust these new media sites to keep that information safe. A great example is how we would expect our bank to keep our money safe but these breaches could even take place there, "For consumers, this technology differs in important ways from what is widely used in the United States today. The standard credit and debit cards we use now have a magnetic stripe containing the customer's information. When first introduced, that stripe was an innovation. But in today's world, more is needed," Mulligan wrote. "The latest 'smart cards' have tiny microprocessor chips that encrypt the personal data shared with the sales terminals used by merchants. Why is such a change important? Even if a thief manages to steal a smart card number, it's useless without the chip."

I agree with your idea of privacy is important when everything is moving towards online stores. When privacy is combined with users' property, it would be more important. Credit and debit card is the example in the U.S.. I have another example which is happening in China. Today, every payment is finished on smartphones in China. No one will take their cash or cards when people is shopping. At this time, protecting privacy of smartphone is necessarily. Tech films have to focus on how to improve the encryption.
