Creativity and New Media

A great example of how new media fosters creativity is Snapchat and Bitmojis - as soon as I saw the word avatar- the first thing that comes to mind is "Bitmojis" - Bitmojis are cartoon versions of people themselves, which they then use on their social media accounts. To use Bitmoji what I simply do is download the Bitmoji app from the app store and then basically create a version of myself using all kinds of options that I think suit'd me best.

Here is an example -

Another example from Apple, which has the same concept as bitmoji's-

HW Creativty

"San Francisco companies big and small monitor Twitter to find out what their customers like and what they want changed. Twitter does the same". This is a great example of how big companies are also depending on their customers for Ideas and how to constantly make changes to keep up with today's world. "Twitter's smart enough, or lucky enough, to say, " Gee, let's not try to compete with our users in designing this stuff, let's outsource design to them, '. New media is also a great tool where can exchanges ideas, which is a great way of fostering creativity. A great example of new media is Youtube, which has its users coming back for different kinds of videos every day, also the competition between channels fosters creativity, which helps the creators to be even more creative and hence gives us a reason to keep coming to them for more connect. The more creativity= more views on youtube= more money.

Modeling Reality with Virtual Worlds

What are different ways these virtual worlds can be used? What are the pros and cons? Be specific. How do virtual worlds foster creativity? What do you think the future of virtual worlds will look like?

Virtual worlds are a representation of reality and are simpler than the real world. Virtual worlds can be used in many different ways, people can use virtual worlds to relax and feel comfortable. A great example of virtual worlds is an article mentioned in CNN health by Nicole Saidi "Walk into naughty auties, A virtual resource center for those with autism and you'll find palm trees swaying against a striking ocean sunset. Were it not for the pixelated graphics on the computer screen in front of you, you would swear you were looking at a tropical hideaway."

Advantages - In the article "Going to the virtual office in second life" - "Parmar told CNN that he recently held a meeting with 12 technical leaders from across Europe and Asia. " This a great example who virtual worlds are being used to connect people all over the world, saving travel cost and most importantly saving the travel time, instead that time is being used to do something creative and productive.

Disadvantages - A big disadvantage of virtual worlds is that the person might never share the same feelings or might never know who the real person behind a computer is, which in my opinion is a very scary thing.

Virtual worlds foster a lot of creativity. A great example is people who worked and designed, the game "Fortnite". Another reason why I think virtual worlds foster creativity is that people are virtual and not in real-life situations therefore they are not afraid to share ideas and feelings, it's like nothing is holding them back.

I think virtual worlds will keep growing. A great example is during this pandemic every single thing has almost gone virtual somehow, if not fully just a little bit.

Blog about Twitter

How does a twitter discussion compare to a BlackBoard discussion? To an in-class discussion?

Twitter discussions are short about 250 words, so the person has to get there point across in those 250 words that they have, which compared to a blackboard and in-class discussion could be very long and the person has a choice of speaking more freely during a blackboard or an in-class discussion.  Blackboard and twitter discussion can also help shy or nervous people participate more in class since blackboard and twitter discussions are online and these people don't have to speak in front of real people, it might help them come up with better ideas.

Social Networking Sites

Compare your impressions of 4 social media sites-

The 4 Social media sites that I, chose were - Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, and YouTube.

I think that all 4 social media sites are very different from each other and all 4 of these social media sites have a very different fanbase.

Facebook gives us the option of liking people's status, posting cover photos, video calling, adding friends, joining different kinds of events, and much more. Instagram, on the other hand, has similar options but it does not have features like video calling or posting status updates, on Instagram you would be posting a story rather than a status update. Facebook also has the option where you could disclose to the public what your relationship status is but on Instagram, you would have to do that but writing stuff about yourself in the biofield. Snapchat compared to Instagram and Facebook is way different, Snapchat gives you the ability to send pictures and videos to your friends for either 10 seconds or either in a loop. Snapchat also a great feature and my personal favorite that it tells you when someone screenshots your picture or your story. Facebook and Instagram don't currently have that feature. YouTube is a completely different kind of social media, the only real way to communicate through Youtube is by posting videos on your channel, which then gets views, comments, and likes.
